I like to listen to podcasts and music in my car. The podcasts and music are on my iPhone.

In my previous car, I used an audio cable. One end plugged into the headphone socket on my iPhone 4S and the other end plugged into the 3.5mm port on my car radio.

Last year when I changed my car, I found that the car radio didn’t have a 3.5mm port. Even if it did, to use the same setup, because I now have an iPhone 7, which doesn’t have a standard 3.5mm port I would have needed to use the 3.5mm to Lightning port converter.

Over the years, I’ve tried a number of Bluetooth solutions in my car including a speaker and an earpiece. The current solution which works really well is a Bluetooth FM Transmitter.

Nulaxy BlueTooth Transmitter

It’s really simple to setup.

  1. Plug the transmitter into the cigarette lighter socket
  2. Tune the FM frequency on the car stereo to an empty channel
  3. Tune the transmitter to the same frequency
  4. Pair the transmitter with my iPhone

It’s also simple to use with some cool features…a dial on the device let’s you control the volume whilst buttons on the device let you pause and resume and play the next or previous song or podcast episode.

Although my personal preference is to use Bluetooth, the device has a 3.5mm port for an audio cable should I wish to use one.

It also has 2 USB ports – one is designed for fast charging a device – such as a phone. The other for reading USB files, meaning that you could plug a USB drive in and play audio files directly off it. There’s also a slot for an SD card if you have audio files stored on one you can play them directly off it.

In addition to acting as a BlueTooth transmitter for music and podcasts, it also acts as a hands free car kit. You can answer, hang up or reject a call by pressing a single button

And last but not least, it works with Siri. I’ve been able to say “Hey Siri. Read My Emails” and “Hey Siri. Play the Next Track in Spotify”

Out of all the solutions I’ve tried, I’d say that this one works the best
